Brazilian squad for the Paris Grand Slam has been defined
The Coaching Commission announced that 16 Brazilian representatives will start off the year
The High Performance Coaching Commission of the Brazilian Judo Confederation released the list of athletes defending the green and yellow colors in the season’s first large competition, the Paris Grand Slam (February 8th and 9th). There will be 16 athletes - nine women and seven men- who will board to the French capital on 4/2, after the current evaluations held in the São Paulo City.
For one of the convoked athletes, the ”Tournoi de Paris” – as it is the French classic name of the Slam – will be the first time when she competes for the senior selection in official competitions. Silver-awarded at the World Junior 2013 in Slovenia, Jessica Pereira entered the senior national team after the second stage of the National Selective Rio 2016 held last December, and now she is experiencing how the Grand Slam really is.
“I am very happy to compete in one of the world’s most traditional competitions. The effort I put in my training targets a good result in such a large venue as Paris’s, \"said the new comer Jessica.
Jessica’s club partner, Rafaela Silva, will be in Paris as well. There she will wear for the first time her red ”back number” since she is world champion, while Sarah Menezes will wear her golden one, an honor she deserved for being the current Olympic champion.
The group is also composed of the Head of Delegation, Ney Wilson, the coaches Luiz Shinohara and Rosicleia Campos, the nutritionist Roberta Lima, the physiotherapist Priscilla Marques and the massage therapist Hans Peter Strubreiter.
