Brazilian National Team goes to the South American Games this Tuesday
In a very busy first semester, the Brazilian National Team will travel, this Tuesday, to the South American Games in Medellin, in Colombia, an important step of the preparation to the London Olympic Games 2012. In 2006, in Argentina, Brazil took home five gold medals, one of them with Luciano Corrêa, who a year later became world champion. Brazil will be represented at the Games by Catiere Toledo (-44kg), Daniela Polzin (-48kg), Andressa Fernandes (-52kg), Ketleyn Quadros (-57kg), Laisa Santana (-63kg), Glaucia Lima (-70kg), Stefani Luppetti (-78kg), Priscila Marques (+78kg), Ricardo Ayres (-60kg), Luis Revite (-66kg), Bruno Mendonça (-73kg), Rodrigo Luna (-81kg), Eduardo Santos (-90kg), Leonardo Gonçalves (-100kg) and Rafael Silva (+100kg). The judo premieres at the South American Games on March 19.

“I’m well prepared to dispute the South American Games. I arrived from Europe with a new perspective of judo, after training with the best in the world. I’m going to Colombia well aware about my role in the team and I’m confident I will have good results. For sure the South American Games are very important, because they have great visibility. To go to an event as part of the delegation of the Brazilian Olympic Committee is import for the résumé of every judoka”, said Ricardo Ayres.

The technical commission in Medellin will count with the head of the delegation Pedro Sinhohara, the doctor Breno Shor, the physical therapist Roberta Mattar, the nutritionist Gisele Lemos, and the coaches Amadeu Moura (men) and Rosicléia Campos (women).

Brazil will be represented by a total of 557 athletes at the South American Games. In total, including officials, members of technical commissions, doctors, masseuses and physical therapists, the Brazilian Olympic Committee with take around 700 people to Medellin. Brazil will dispute 37 modalities.
