Brazilian Girls Win the Silver Medal in the World Combat Games
As happened in the World Team Senior Championships, the Japanese women judokas got the gold award. Mongolia and Cuba won the bronze.
The decision of the female judo dispute at the World Combat Games, a competition that brings together 1300 athletes competing in 15 different combat sports, was similar to the final of the World Judo Championship from Rio in early September. In the Marvelous City, Japan won by three to two. In St. Petersburg, the Japanese new victory scored four to one. The Brazilian women enhances their status as one of the best teams on the planet after the third consecutive medal in international team competitions: bronze in World Team Championship in Salvador in 2012, silver in Rio and now silver again at the World Combat Games .
“I really enjoyed the way Ana Carla Grincevicus behaved in the competition, especially because she is new in our team. We need to work harder and better against our Japanese counterparts. In the other two fights, we fought very well, “said Ney Wilson, the BJC’s Performance Director.
Before the decision, Brazil had defeated Kazakhstan by five to zero and France by four to one. The women\'s team was composed of Erika Miranda ( 52kg ) , Rafaela Silva ( 57kg ) , Ana Carla Grincevicus ( 63kg ), Maria Portela ( 70kg ) and Mary Suelen Altheman ( +70 kg ) .
Mongolia got one of bronze awards by defeating France in a combat decided in the final fight. The Mongols opened by two to zero but their French counterparts managed to get tied. In the last fight, Munkhtuya Battulga defeated Rebecca Ramanich by wazari . The other bronze award was taken by Cuba which defeated Russia by four to one.
Sunday it\'s the turn of the men\'s team. The five Brazilian representatives are Charles Chibana ( 66kg ) , Eduardo Katsuhiro ( 73kg ) , Victor Penalber ( 81kg ) , Eduardo Bettoni ( 90kg ) and Rafael Silva ( +90 kg ). The first round is against the powerful Japanese team.
“The men start fighting against Japan, a contest that could be the end of the championship. But I\'m sure the team is very confident and I do expect a better result than in the World Championship, “Ney said, reminding that the Brazilian men were eliminated in the first fight by Germany by three to two.
