Brazil will have 557 athletes at the South American Games 2010-03-09
Judo will be present with its complete team: Catiere Moya (-44kg), Daniela Polzin (-48kg), Andressa Fernandes (-52kg), Ketleyn Quadros (-57kg), Laisa Santana (-63kg), Gláucia Lima (-70kg), Steffani Luppetti (-78kg), Priscila Marques (+78kg), Ricardo Ayres (-60kg), Luis Revite (-66kg), Bruno Mendonça (-73kg), Rodrigo Luna (-81kg), Eduardo Santos (-90kg), Leandro Gonçalves (-100kg) and Rafael Silva (+100kg). Besides the kata dispute with Luis Alberto Santos e Rioiti Uchida. The head of the delegation will be Pedro Sinohara, with Amadeu Moura Júnior, coach of the men’s team, and Rosicléia Campos, coach of the women’s team. Also part of the delegation will be the nutritionist Gisele Lemos and the physical therapist Roberta Mattar.
The program of the complete competition will feature besides the Olympic modalities other six sports that are or have been part of the Pan American program. They are: baseball, bowling, indoor football, karate, softball and squash. In Medellín, the Team Brazil will be based in the South American Villa, which has been especially built for the event. This is the first time that a Villa is constructed exclusively for a competition.
“The South American Games represent an important step of the planning BOC is doing for the Olympic cycle. The competition gathers our main adversaries in the continent and is good for us to evaluate our athletes’ conditions. The delegation is a mix of experienced athletes and new talent seeking their spot in the Sport world. We are certain that Team Brazil will represent their country to the best of their abilities and will return home with excellent results”, declared Bernard Rajzman, chief of the Brazilian Mission in Medellín.
It’s expected that about five thousand athletes and officials from 15 countries will take part in the Games.
