After the GP of Tyumen, the Brazilian Judo Team Trains in Russia and Germany
After the spectacular campaign of the Grand Slam from Tyumen, in which the Brazilian athletes won 10 medals - five gold, two silver and three bronze - the team will stay in the Russian city for the Training Camp. Fourteen athletes will share their experience with the foreign judokas until next Thursday, July 17th, when a part of the group comes back to Brazil and the other goes to Germany.
Sarah Menezes (48kg), Erika Miranda (52kg), Rafaela Silva (57kg), Ketleyn Quadros (57kg), Mariana Barros (63kg), Barbara Timo (70kg), Mayra Aguiar (78kg) and Maria Suelen Altheman (+78 kg) have to work hard in this final stage of preparation for the World Championships which will be held from August 25th to August 31st in Chelyabink / RUS. Although the list of the convoked athletes has not been released yet - tomorrow it is schedule to be posted on the Internet- these female athletes are part of the group of Brazilians best placed in the world rankings in their categories. Therefore, after the Training Camp from Tyumen, they will take part in another one, this time in Cologne / GER.
Apart from the judokas who participated in the Grand Slam in Russia, Nathalia Brigida (48kg), Mariana Silva (63kg), Katherine Campos (63kg), Maria Portela (70kg) and Rochele Nunes (+78 kg) are also well placed in the world rankings and they will leave Brazil tomorrow to join in the German city the rest of their peers for the Training Camp.
The Performance Director of the Brazilian Judo Confederation (BJC), Ney Wilson, analyzed the training in Tyumen. "The trainings here in Russia are great and very strong. This stage is already part of the final part of our planning. This year we had training in Japan, which added a lot of experience to our judokas. The GP in Tyumen, for instance, brought us many victories against the Japanese, " he said and stressed the importance of the exchange in Europe. "Europeans train differently and it is important that our athletes be in contact with this style of training".
Felipe Kitadai (60kg), Charles Chibana (66kg), Alex Pombo (73kg), Victor Penalber (81kg), Luciano Correa (100 kg) and Rafael Silva (+100 kg)come back to Brazil on Thursday, together with Ney Wilson, the coaches Luiz Shinohara and Rosicleia Campos as well as the physiotherapist Fabio Minutti.
The coaching committee that will lead the athletes in all activities in Germany will be composed by the coaches Mario Tsutsui and Geraldo Bernardes, the fitness trainer Josué Moraes, the psychologist Luciana Branco, the physiotherapist Roberta Mattar and the nutritionist Roberta Lima.
"We hope that each athlete reach their technical, physical and mental peak in the World Championships," Ney Wilson concluded.
