Twice World Champions, Ortiz and Riner Are Elected the Best Judokas of the Competition

The award for the best judoka of the World Championship went to Teddy Riner (FRA), who is getting better and better and all his opponents know that the 25-year-old judoka, there is still more to come from him. The French participated in 67 fights undefeated and it took eight minutes and 38 seconds to win his five fights in the competition, less time spent than last year.

Among women, the judoka elected by the organization was Idalys Ortiz (CUB), who won all four fights by ippon. The Cuban took seven minutes and 39 seconds to win her four fights in the World Judo Championships.

In the end, five world champions in 2013 repeated the victory of 12 months ago, besides Riner and Ortiz: Majlinda Kelmendi (KOS) and Masashi Ebinuma (JPN) in the half-lightweight as well as the three-time champion of the half middleweight category, Yuri Alvear (COL).

The Chelyabinsk 2014 World Championship will have an exciting end with the team competition on Sunday with teams of 16 men and of 16 women who will give all their best for their country in an extremely exciting format in which Georgia (men) and Japan (women) are the champions.
