Tiago Camilo Is Silver-Awarded and Hugo Pessanha Is Bronze in Havana
Tiago Camilo (90kg) could not fit hit best judo blows in the final of Havana Grand Prix against the Georgian Varlam Liparteliani, world number one, and so he took the silver. Hugo Pessanha(100kg) applied an ippon in the fight against Martin Pacek from Sweden and therefore he won one of the bronzes of the half heavyweight category.
Brazil goes to two fights by medals on the last day of the Havana Grand Prix. Tiago Camilo (90kg) reaches the final against the world number 1 of his category, Varlam Liparteliani (GEO). Hugo Pessanha (100kg) fights for bronze against the Swedish Martin Pacek, placed 12th in the world rankings.
The first edition of the Havana Grand Prix ended this Sunday. Tiago Camilo (90kg) is in the final and will fight against the Georgian Varlam Liparteliani for the highest place of the podium. Hugo Pessanha (100kg) lost the semifinal and will fight for bronze against the Swedish Martin Pacek.
Renan Nunes (100kg) lost his first fight against the Portuguese Jorge Fonseca and did not continue in the competition. Walter Santos (+100 kg) lost his second fight to the Georgian Levani Matiashvili and went to repechage; there he lost against Adam Okruashvili, from Georgia, finishing in the seventh place.
The competitions by medals begin at 6pm.
This Sunday, June 8th, the last day of the Grand Prix from Havana, Brazil will have a chance to win four more medals – it has already won three (two silvers and one bronze) - with Tiago Camilo(90kg), Renan Nunes(100kg), Hugo Pessanha(100kg), and Walter Santos(+100 kg). There will be no women’s representatives.
