The Brazilians Board to the GP from Abu Dhabi
The championship will be held before the last competition- Grand Slam from Tokyo- our Brazilian Judo Team takes part in this year. The Team from 2014 will be set in December.
In the second year of the Olympic cycle, searching for space in the national team is even greater. For those who are already being supported by the Brazilian Judo Confederation, the goal is getting points for a higher position in the world ranking, reach the Olympics zone ranking – up to the 22nd place for men and up to 14th for women with no discard and thus automatically keep being part of the team. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which takes place from November 21st to 23rd at Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) is the penultimate competition of the Brazilian team in this year, the last one being the Grand Slam from Tokyo. The selection for the national Team which will be composed of 42 members will be held in Rio de Janeiro from December 13th to 15th.
The Brazilian delegation will be formed by Diego Santos ( 60kg, SOGIPA /RS) , Marcos Seixas (73kg , Minas TC / MG ) , Mauro Moura ( 81kg , CR Flamengo ) , Luciano Correa ( 100kg , Minas TC / MG ), Hugo Pessanha ( 100kg , Minas TC / MG ) , Barbara Timo ( 70kg , CR Flamengo ) and Samantha Soares ( 78kg , AD São Caetano ). Fulvio Myiata will be the coach; Priscila Marques the physiotherapist and João Gabriel Pinheiro will be the head of delegation.
In GP, the champion will score 300 points, the second 180 and the third 120. Barbara Timo is the current 14th in the rankings with 630 points. Since she did not compete in the tournament last year, she has no points to lose. Depending on the outcome, it may even overcome the best Brazilian female athlete in the middleweight category, Maria Portela, who has now 874 points and she is in the 11th position.
\"I want to have a good performance. I always want to do my best and then I think on the Olympic judo ranking. I\'m focused on my results and I go to Abu Dhabi well prepared. After that, I will start thinking on the selection process \"said Barbara, who won the GP of Tashkent (picture), bronze in the GP of Almaty and the fifth place in Qingdao in 2013 .
