While the Argentinian women\'s national team are training in Belo Horizonte, their male conational counterparts are in Porto Alegre. Between January 20th and January 30th, eight \"hermanos\" will train in the Gaucha state capital, together with SOGIPA’s athletes. SOGIPA is the training’s headquarters. Apart from this club’s judokas, there will be 15 athletes from Kiai, Grêmio Náutico União and Bilhar Judo, convoked by the Judo Federation from Rio Grande do Sul.
The Argentine delegation is composed of nine members. The eight athletes, some of them being the outstanding judokas Emmanuel Lucenti and Cristian Schmidt, are led by the coach Tigran Karhmanyan. Nehuen Melita, Laureano Martin, Fernando Gonzalez, Alejandro Clara, Ivan Duarte and Hector Campos complete the team.
In 2012, the Argentine national team came to Rio Grande do Sul in order to participate to a training camp. The team’s coach at the time, Javier Morillas, talked about the period spent in Brazil:
\"Twenty training days in Brazil are equivalent to two months in Argentina. Here, the athlete focuses more: away from family, friends, boyfriends ... It is always worth coming, since their performance gets better.\" he said.
