The Architectural Project of the Pan American Judo Center Is Awarded an Important Prize
The architectural project of the Pan American Judo Center (PJC) was the great winner of the category “Sports Buildings “of the X Great Prize of Corporate Architecture. Considered to be the most important one in the Latin American sports field, the award ceremony was organized by the Regional Engineering and Architecture Council (REAC). The victory was even more important because this year, for the first time, the voting has been done in two ways: by a jury composed of 10 master winners from previous editions and 10 special guests, and by popular vote. Among the analyzed aspects there are the quality of sports facilities, urban planning, environment, design and engineering. The laurel was devoted to the BJC’ s Marketing Director, Maurício Santos , who represented the BJC’s President, Paulo Wanderley Teixeira, on Wednesday evening in Sao Paulo .
\"We are proud of a structure that was born to be a winner. This is for sure the first prize of an extensive gallery that will be hosted in Bahia, and enhances the PJC’s excellent level, \"said Maurício.
It is expected that the Pan American Judo be officially opened in May 2014 and become a reference for judokas across America. With a 40 million dollar-investment, the structure will be built in front of the Ipitanga Beach, in Lauro de Freitas, metropolitan region of Salvador, and will include an air-conditioned gym with four complete combat areas and eight training areas, enabling accommodation for 50 athletes and officials. Moreover, it will have an auditorium for 200 people, an administrative department, sports court and pool. PJC is the result of a partnership between the Brazilian Judo Confederation, the Ministry of Sports, THE Government of Bahia and the City Hall of Lauro Freitas .
“Our goal is having a highly-equipped center as a reference across America that will be able to host high performance athletes from Brazil and Pan America and international guests,\" said President Paulo Wanderley Teixeira.
