Spain Will Host the VI World Kata Championship
On September 20th and 21st, the International Judo Federation and the Spanish Federation will hold the sixth edition of the World Kata Championships in Malaga. The Brazilian Judo Confederation (BJC) can be represented by a maximum of seven pairs, and their selection criteria are the Brazilian Kata Championship 2013.
Kata is a set of fundamental techniques, which have been enhancing the judo spirit for more than 130 years. The World Championship will be disputed by five different katas: Nage-no-Kata, Katame-no-Kata, Jun-no-Kata, Kime-no-kata and Kodokan-Goshi Jutsu. Each nation may enter up to two pairs in each kata.
The Championships will be held at the Sports Palace José María Martín Carpena and the travel costs for each athlete will be borne by their sponsors. The 6th Dan Rioti Uchida, one of the biggest names of the Brazilian Kata, holder of three world titles (Canada 2005, France 2006 and Brazil 2007) and member of the Kata Commission of the International Judo Federation since last year will join the judokas in their activities in the European city.
The event also will also provide a Kata Training Camp, on September 22nd and 23rd. The list of names of the called pairs will be soon revealed by the BJC. The World’s Outlines are as follows:

September 20th (Saturday)
9am - Start of the fights of Nage-no-Kata, Katame-no-Kata and Ju-no-Kata – Sports Palace
