Rio de Janeiro Hosts One More Test-Event Related to the World Championship

Next Tuesday (9/7), the BJC’s Organizing Committee of World Championship Rio 2013 organizes one more test-event related to the World Judo Championship from August. At the Training Center of the Judo Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (JFRJS) in the neighborhood Deodoro in the Northern Area of the City, judo delegations of the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Bahia, are going to participate in the Interstate Contest Top Team Judo 2013 Rio. The preparatory event will test the functional and institutional areas as well as working teams who will take part in the World Championship.

“Test-events are always very important for any organization of a big championship. In these events we adjust our team, trim the edges and we start functioning at the same time. This is necessary for reaching our last goal which is the World Championship, “stated the  Director of Institutional Relations, Marcos Pastori.

Each of the three delegations will come to Rio de Janeiro with 28 athletes - 14 men and 14 women - who will be divided into two judokas per category, both the male and the female. On Monday, the Official Weighing begins at 6 p.m.; then, at 7 p.m., the Technical Congress and draw are held. On Tuesday, the event starts at 10 am, with the qualification phase, which is going to last until noon; in the afternoon, at 1.30 p.m., the bronze fights are going to take place; and the finals start at 4 p.m.

Among the 84 participating athletes, there are important judokas such as Mauro Moura – bronze-awarded in the recent Grand Prix of Miami ; Rafaela Nitz – bronze-awarded in the Grand Slam Rio 2012- and Mike Chibana, three times Pan American junior champion.

Other Contests are hold next month by the Organizing Committee. On August 1st, judo teams from Hungary and Spain come to the city of Queimados to fight against the Brazilian national team, on August 3rd, judo teams from Venezuela and Cuba come to compete with the Brazilian team, in one more test- event of the World Championship Rio 2013.
