In an Event Attended by President Paulo Wanderley, the Ministry of Sports Delivers the Friend of Sports Entrepreneur Award
The event aims to pay tribute to companies and people who that have most invested in sport in 2013. Bradesco and Petrobras, judo supporters, are among the great champions.
On Tuesday (9/12) evening, at Pinheiros Club, it was held the fifth edition of Friend of Sports Entrepreneur Award.
Organized by the Ministry of Sports, the event had among its winners two companies who support the Brazilian judo: Bradesco and Petrobras. Itaú Unibanco is also on the list. The ceremony honoring the sports and para-sports projects’ sponsors, is in recognition of the companies who supported the sport through the Incentive Law as well as a stimulus for new companies who intend to bring their contribution to the development and strengthening of the national sport.
"The Incentive Law to Sports” allows the integration because it seeks private funds, via the mechanism of tax breaks, and uses the money for the benefit of the community. Everything in society starts from an idea to live an experience. And the experience of the Incentive Law has been successful by the rising figure of every year and the diversity of projects, "said Aldo Rebelo, Minister of Sport, who handed the award to the three companies.
Attending the event, the president of the Brazilian Judo Confederation (BJC), Paulo Wanderley Teixeira, said that the organization has got more than R$ 34 million since the Sports Incentive Law and the money was used to the promotion and development of the sport.
"The Law will turn eight years old in 2015 and it may end next year. The Brazilian sport would like it continue because sports cannot keep going on with no law, "he said.
Recognition of natural person - In this edition, the ceremony celebrated the growing number of natural person donors, which means that the public policy of promoting sport through legislation began to be spread among the population, with about 2300 individual donors. This number outcomes the one of the sponsoring companies. The winners of the category Natural Person Friends of Sport were: Jean Marc Robert Etlin, Carlos Alberto Rodrigues and Júlio Siqueira Araújo.
During the ceremony there were given 71 awards from over eight different categories: Friend of Sports; Best Friend of Sports; Participation Sports Friend; Performance Sports Friend; Educational Sports Friend; Dedication and Incentive; Friend of Sports – Natural Person; and Best Friend of Sports in the State.
At the end of the ceremony, the former player of the Brazilian team Vampeta, thanked him and handed to the Minister Aldo Rebelo a tribute for his contribution to the national sport.
Understand the Law of Sports Incentive - Known as an extremely democratic instrument of encouragement to sports, the Law of Sports Incentive has been benefiting since its creation in 2007, people from all over the country and all social categories. The mechanism allows companies and individuals to invest part of their income tax (IR) in sports projects approved by the Ministry of Sports. Companies can allocate up to 1% of this amount and still accumulate it with investments provided by other incentive laws. The ceiling for natural persons is 6% of the IR.
In 2013, through the projects, more than 700,000 people throughout Brazil benefited directly from an investment of R $ 229.2 million, representing an increase of 8% over the previous year. The Southeastern region has got 83% of the funds, followed by the Southern (10%), Northeastern (3%), Midwestern (2%) and Northern ones (2%).
