Greats World Judo Names Gather in Saquarema for the International Training Camp
Olympic and world champions from all categories are sharing their experiences until March 23rd at the event sponsored by the Brazilian Judo Confederation in partnership with the BOC.
Great world judo names gathered in Saquarema for the largest International Training Camp organized by the Brazilian Judo Confederation so far. The event counted on the partnership of the Brazilian Olympic Committee and will run until March 23rd. Male and female athletes from Brazil, France, Germany, Slovenia, Portugal and Finland made the Center for Volleyball Development a great mat and so, besides the physical effort, many experiences were shared among judokas. The activity was attended by Olympic and world medalists from all categories. The coach of the Brazilian women’s team, Rosicleia Campos, celebrated the organization of such an event in Brazil: \"The other countries told us that this training should be included in the IJF’s calendar. It is a ten-day training and there is plenty of time to correct the mistakes from the previous training sessions. It is crucial noticing the progress and the fails. Each workout is a struggle, the Europeans train very hard. Because the Brazilians are training together, they get to know each other very well. When foreigners take part to the trainings, the outcome is greater, \"she said.
Silver medalist in Sydney 2000 and bronze awarded in Beijing 2008, Tiago Camilo praised the facilities from Saquarema and highlighted the Brazilians’ different results compared to their foreign counterparts after the previous ones’ recent outcome.
“In these common trainings, everyone helps each other. The Brazilian judo reached such a high level that foreigners want to train here. We were the ones who used to train abroad. Our results changed this , \" Tiago Camilo said.
With two Olympic bronze medals as his background, the Dutchman Henk Grol hopes to start with these trainings in Brazil, the contention for. He stressed the importance of getting this in a city like Rio, during the Olympic Games 2016.
“This workout is good for the body and I really enjoy the people. I have to keep myself fit after my main goal, which is the Olympic Gold. I\'m 29 years old and I already have two bronze medals. I am dreaming of gold and winning it in Rio would be perfect. I simply love this city,\" Grol said.
